In 2026, 20.1 billion drams are planned to be allocated for extending the operational lifespan of the Armenian nuclear power plant’s (ANPP) 2nd unit. This was announced by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, during the debates on the 2026 state budget draft of Armenia at the joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly on Tuesday.

“The work of modernization of the ANPP’s 2nd unit and the extension of its design operational period will continue throughout 2026, ensuring its operation — first, until 2026, and then until 2036,” Khudatyan said.

The minister added that preparations for the construction of the Armenian nuclear power plant’s 2nd unit will begin in 2026, with an allocation of 828 million drams planned for this purpose.
