US President Donald Trump, speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, said that he had ended eight wars in eight months, and in many cases, trade played a major role in bringing those wars to an end, BBC News reports.

Trump believes that trade serves as a negotiation tactic in contentious situations — from the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict to the conflict between India and Pakistan and in the Middle East.

Trump predicts that tariffs will reduce the US trade deficit by $4 trillion over the next 10 years, adding that he believes it’s actually much more than that.

To note, the US president includes the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan — over Nagorno-Karabakh — among the eight conflicts he claims to have ended.
