The only current hope regarding Ukraine is that someone from outside — who is not involved on either the Russian or Ukrainian side — will exert pressure to reach an agreement and establish peace, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, La Repubblica reports.

“I myself have held negotiations with both the Russians and the Ukrainians. And from personal experience I know that to achieve peace, you cannot leave the two sides alone to reach an agreement between themselves — it never works. We need a third participant capable of taking positive action for peace. Unfortunately, the Europeans have withdrawn. Therefore, the only remaining mediator is [US President Donald] Trump — a president truly devoted to the cause of peace,” Orban said during a program on Rete 4 television.

“Trump is a very rare type of American president. We should be glad that we have such a US president and should support him — that is exactly what we Hungarians are doing. Therefore, there are good opportunities,” concluded the Hungarian premier.
