Exports from Armenia to Germany increased by more than 77 percent, reaching $71.4 million, in the first eight months of this year, Armenian economy minister Gevorg Papoyan on Wednesday stated on Facebook.
“During the same period last year, it had amounted to only $40.4 million. Moreover, in these eight months we [i.e. Armenia] have already exported more to Germany than during the entire previous year. This is important from the viewpoint of ensuring the diversification of Armenia’s economy.
Why am I announcing this today here from Berlin? Because shortly I will meet with more than 40 German businesspeople to present the opportunities for the investment environment of Armenia’s economy.
Afterwards, I will meet with my colleague, Germany’s Federal Minister of Agriculture, Mr. [Alois] Rainer. And starting tomorrow, the Armenia-Germany Intergovernmental Commission sessions will begin, which I will chair on behalf of the Armenian side, on behalf of the Republic of Armenia,” added the economy minister.
