YEREVAN. – Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan has convened consultations on Monday regarding the start of negotiations on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between Armenia and the EU.

“The consultations aim to discuss process of Armenia’s obligations assumed towards the EU. We also prepare the Armenian President Serzh Sargyan’s visit in Brussels where the start of the DCFTA negotiations will be announced. The most urgent issue is to submit the package to the Parliament and convene discussions for the package to be adopted in the hearings,” PM said.

As for the preparation works on the agreement, Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan said that all the interested bodies have run intensive preparation works, governmental press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. Besides, the deadline for the preparations is Feb. 5. Afterwards, senior officials will convene session in Brussels late February to discuss the issue whether Armenia is ready to start the negotiations.

Armenian PM also has received head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea. The parties discussed reforms in Armenia, Armenia-EU relations, in particular, issues on starting DCFTA negotiations.
