The opposition has turned the issue of returning to Nagorno-Karabakh into a banner. Are they ready to ensure the safe return? Can anyone ensure the safe return of even a single Armenian to Nagorno-Karabakh? Armenia’s National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan stated this to reporters in response to a question about the possibility of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh returning to their historical homeland.
According to Simonyan, over time, some Armenians may return to Nagorno-Karabakh. “But saying such a thing now? What? Do they want to return, but the authorities are not allowing [them]?” asked the head of Armenia’s parliament.
Speaking about the Gaza Strip, he turned to a comparison, saying that a similar situation could happen to Armenians as well. Overall, Simonyan called to “stop imagining ourselves as the center of the world, telling everyone about the eyes of Armenians and our apricot.”
