By the end of January 2026, a total of 132 train cars of Russian wheat grain will be delivered to Armenia via the railway route passing through the territories of Azerbaijan and Georgia, the Russian Ministry of Transport reported on Telegram.

The first batch, more than 1,000 tons of wheat grain, was sent from Dimitrovgrad Station in Ulyanovsk Region of Russia.

The transportation was organized by Russian Railways.

The train, consisting of 15 train cars of wheat grain, passed through Azerbaijan, crossed the border between Georgia and Armenia, and is heading to the Dalarik Station of the South Caucasus Railway company.

The Russian Ministry of Transport added that the organizing of this new logistics route became possible after the resumption of cargo transit to Armenia via Azerbaijan.

This is the first such transport since the 1990s.

In addition to wheat grain, deliveries of other types of cargo are also being developed.
