I welcome Russia’s active involvement in the railway transport sector in Armenia, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a press briefing Thursday.

According to him, when after August 8 there were assessments suggesting that it was a negative development for Iran and Russia, the Armenian authorities said that, on the contrary, this change would contribute to the further development and deepening of relations between Armenia and Russia.

“What happened fully corresponds to everything we expected after the signing of the documents in the US on August 8,” the Armenian PM added.

To note, 1,050 tons (15 train cars) of Russian wheat arrived in Armenia Thursday from Russia via the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia. And the South Caucasus Railway company later informed that it is planned to send an additional 132 train cars of wheat to Armenia along the aforesaid route by the end of January 2026.
