Azerbaijan and Armenia still have much to do to make the process of normalizing their relations irreversible — and Russia stands ready to help. This was noted in a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

“Baku and Yerevan still have a lot to do to make the process of normalizing bilateral relations irreversible, including the signing of the peace treaty, restoring of transport and economic communications in the interests of all countries of the South Caucasus and their immediate neighbors, fair delimitation and demarcation of the state border, as well as establishing of effective contacts at the level of civil society,” the Russian MFA stated.

“The Russian side is ready to continue providing comprehensive assistance to Azerbaijani and Armenian partners in all areas, including within the 3+3 regional cooperation platform (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia – Russia, Iran, Turkey).”

The agreements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan remain in force and have not lost their relevance, noted the statement by the Russian MFA.

“Taken together, the four statements (2020–2022) at the highest level  constitute the ‘roadmap’ of the peace process. These agreements remain in force and have not lost their relevance. The important foundations created in the trilateral format are actively used by the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides, including in direct dialogue. In this context, the Russian side has positively assessed the initialing of the draft agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia by the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington on August 8, 2025,” the Russian MFA concluded in its statement.
