ANKARA. - US Ambassador to Turkey, Francis Ricciardone, responded, for the first time in Turkish, to the Twitter questions that were sent to him.

Ricciardone responded to the Turkish citizens’ tweets, including on US President Barack Obama’s April 24 statement [on the Armenian Genocide anniversary], Hurriyet daily of Turkey informs.

In response to the tweet, “Don’t you think that because of the approaching [presidential] elections President Obama will say ‘genocide’ on April 24?”, the US Ambassador to Ankara said he would not know what Obama would say on April 24. “But as President Obama had said earlier, the Armenian and Turkish people must take into account the realities of the past, and move forward. Contact is indispensable. The historians of the two sides must meet,” Francis Ricciardone tweeted in response.
