After the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we must look ahead and consider the development of the region as a shared space. The speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, stated this while speaking about the topics to be discussed Friday at his meeting with Armenia’s foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is visiting Georgia.

According to Papuashvili, both Armenia and Azerbaijan are pursuing the right policy, as they seek to cooperate with all interested parties and partners for the well-being of their peoples.

“After the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we must look ahead and consider the development of the region as a shared space. We all must strengthen one another in what is important for each country. This concerns strengthening sovereignty and improving the welfare of the population. In this regard, we [i.e. Georgia] see that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are pursuing the right policy, striving to cooperate with all those who work for the well-being of their peoples. They do not behave like our radical opposition, which is controlled from outside and believes there is no other option but to wait for instructions from Brussels. Therefore, we will also discuss these issues — how they evaluate the existing dynamics in the region and what shared plans we have,” said the speaker of the Georgian parliament.
