Palestine welcomes the US-sponsored resolution adopted by the UN Security Council to regulate the conflict in the Gaza Strip and is ready to assume responsibility for its implementation, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) said in a statement, reports WAFA news agency.

“The State of Palestine stressed the urgent need to immediately implement this resolution on the ground, in a manner that ensures the return of normal life, protects our people in the Gaza Strip,” the statement added.

It stresses that the “State of Palestine renewed its affirmation of its readiness to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, within the framework of the unity of land, people, and institutions, considering the Strip an integral part of the State of Palestine.”

PNA added that the “State of Palestine expressed its full readiness to cooperate with the U.S. Administration, members of the Security Council, the Arab and Islamic states, the European Union and its member states, the United Nations, and all parties of the international coalition and partners in the New York Declaration, in order to ensure the implementation of this resolution.”

As reported earlier, on Tuesday evening the UN Security Council adopted the draft resolution proposed by the US, promoting Washington’s plan for conflict resolution in the Gaza Strip.

The resolution provides for the creation of international stabilization forces that will cooperate with Israel, Egypt, and the new Palestinian police to secure the borders and demilitarize the Gaza Strip, as well as the formation of a “Peace Council,” which will become the transitional government of this Palestinian enclave until 2027. It is expected to be chaired by US President Donald Trump.
