US President Donald Trump earlier this week approved a new peace plan to end the conflict in Ukraine, sources said, NBC News reports.

Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, Vice-President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner were involved in formulating the 28-point plan, NBC quoted its sources as saying

While working on the plan, senior US administration officials consulted with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, as well as with Ukrainian officials.

The plan focuses on providing security guarantees to both Ukraine and Russia to ensure a lasting peace, an anonymous US official told NBC News, but declined to provide further details about the content of the plan.

A European official and a source close to the Ukrainian leadership, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NBC News that Kyiv did not participate in the preparation of this peace plan and that Ukraine was informed only of the general outlines.

Kyiv still needs to review the new proposal, and the deadlines for the final approval of the plan have coincided with the visit of US military officials to Ukraine.

The US delegation arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday, and they have two tasks: to discuss military technologies and strategies with the Ukrainian leadership, and to assist in the resumption of the peace process, NBC News added.
