There are no direct flights between Kazakhstan and Armenia, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin has said, Ulysmedia.kz reports.

Answering reporters’ questions during a meeting at Akorda, the official residence of the Kazakh president, Zhumangarin noted that airline services at the international airport of Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, are very expensive.

“Currently, various subsidy options are being discussed. The rates at Yerevan airport are very high: for one person, $65; for one ton of aviation fuel, $1,248. That is why it is expensive. That is why we are now discussing how it will be in the future. At the moment, the discussion concerns subsidizing it in some way. Both SCAT and FlyArystan are ready to start flights under these conditions,” the Kazakh official said.
