Kazakhstan may open a new trade route to Turkey through Armenia. Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin told this to reporters on Friday.

According to him, this new trade route via Armenia will provide Kazakhstan with direct access to Turkish ports.

“Currently, we [i.e. Kazakhstan] go through Azerbaijan toward the Black Sea ports of Georgia. The new route will enable access to [Azerbaijan’s] Nakhchivan [exclave] and then directly to Turkey, to its seaports,” the Kazakh official said.

To note, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is currently on an official visit to Kazakhstan.
