YEREVAN. – Regardless of the decision by the French Constitutional Court, even if it is negative for us, we should not get disappointed but should continue the struggle, ARF Dashnaktsutyun member Giro Manoyan told the journalists.

In case the bill is recognized as constitutional one and becomes law, we again should continue struggle to achieve adoption of likewise bills throughout Europe, Manoyan stated.

The Constitutional Council may make one of three decisions: the bill does not contradict the Constitution fully, does not contradict partially or is not constitutional at all. In the second case the bill returns to the National Assembly, while in the third case President Sarkozy promises to introduce a new one if the current is cancelled.

“It is important to take right step. Sarkozy will meet with the representatives of the Armenian community on Thursday. I suppose the possible moves may also be discussed among other issues,” ARFD representative said.

To note, the French Senate adopted the bill criminalizing denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide on Jan. 23. However, a group of Senators appealed to the Constitution Council to cancel the decision.
