The world order is changing, which makes strategic ties very important for the European Union’s (EU) partners. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated this during a press briefing Tuesday after the sixth meeting of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council, in Brussels.

At this moment, Armenia’s level of compliance with its obligations is 37 percent. The EU is imposing sanctions against Russia. At the same time, it is engaging its partners because it wants the war between Russia and Ukraine to end, Kallas added.

The EU is helping its partners develop and diversify their trade. This means they will no longer have to rely entirely on Russia, she said

If everyone complies with these sanctions and the latter are not bypassed, then the EU will deprive its partners of the opportunity to finance the war, Kallas stated.

In turn, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated that the EU is ready to contribute to the normalization of relations between the region’s countries.

The EU working on this matter with Azerbaijan and Turkey, too. It can achieve a lot in the South Caucasus through the connectivity agenda, but this is possible only through peace between Yerevan and Baku, Kos emphasized.

She reiterated the importance of diversification. The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project is part of this connectivity, and they need to connect the East and the West, Kos added.
