The 2026 parliamentary elections in Armenia will be of crucial importance for regional stability and the implementation of reforms. The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated this during a press briefing Tuesday after the sixth meeting of the European Union (EU)-Armenia Partnership Council, in Brussels.

Armenia can rely on the EU’s support. Democracy is always under threat, and there is a need to support the media to prevent pressure. This is very important, it is a new direction, and the EU is supporting the 5 million euros in funding, including ahead of next year’s parliamentary elections in Armenia to ensure the fight against disinformation, Kos added.

There are opportunities to expand connections. Next March, the European Commissioner for Migration and Security will visit Armenia, where important summits will take place, said the European Commissioner for Enlargement.
