Relations between the European Union (EU) and Armenia are currently strong and continue to be strengthened. The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated this during a press briefing Tuesday after the sixth meeting of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council, in Brussels.

The EU and Armenia have many commonalities, but a lot to do to maintain resilience, democracy, and peace, Kos added.

Today the EU and Armenia adopted a new strategic agenda reflecting this unique moment in their relations. The EU is working together with Armenia on visa liberalization, too. Last month they submitted the action plan for visa liberalization. This is important because many Armenians live in European countries, and the EU wants Armenian citizens to be able to travel more freely to European countries to visit their friends, the European Commissioner for Enlargement noted.

In their efforts to strengthen resilience, they focus on issues related to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh, visa liberalization, and socioeconomic development. Also, they are developing transport, digital, and energy connectivity, Marta Kos added.
