Sixty-four people died as a result of freezing weather in Russia this January, said Deputy Health Minister Maxim Topilin. 1,400 people have applied for medical aid.

Twenty-eight people died from frostbit in Moscow from the beginning of November. Mostly they are people without a residence.

The church representatives erected shelter in the center of Moscow, where homeless can get warm. So far, only one million rubles were collected for the project. Air temperature dropped to  -20 degree over the last few days in Moscow, Lenta.ru reports.
