This statement is connected with a specific European Union (EU) program for the import and export of electricity, and it does not concern future management issues of the Electric Networks of Armenia  company. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the press briefing after the government cabinet meeting Thursday, as he commented on the remark by European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, that the EU was ready to assist Armenia in connecting its power grid to those of Georgia and Turkey.

“After the signing of documents in the US, investment interest in Armenia has increased, and we are interested in implementing infrastructure projects with EU participation, including within the framework of the TRIPP project,” Pashinyan added.

He said that out of the 2.6 billion euros promised by the EU, more than 500 million euros have already been allocated, including through private-sector lending. He added that Armenia’s relations with the EU will deepen.

“We are making good progress in the implementation of the TRIPP project, and the project will be carried out within the timeframe we have set,” the Armenian premier said.

Also, he expressed interest in Armenia’s accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and in deepening of relations with China.

According to him, tourism in Armenia reached a historic high in November. Pashinyan attributed this to progress in the peace process with Azerbaijan. He added that the development of tourism in Armenia could also lead to the development of small aviation in the country.
