The Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan is examining the motion for the arrest of Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am had reported that, according to a statement by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against Archbishop Khachatryan on the charge under the Armenian Criminal Code article on the illegal selling of narcotics by a group of persons with prior agreement.

Khachatryan was detained Thursday.
