Azerbaijan is ready to host a meeting in the 3+3 format, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated at Monday’s joint press conference with his visiting Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.
“We [i.e. Azerbaijan] believe that the Armenian side has no grounds for not accepting the proposal made by Azerbaijan in 2024. Our proposal remains in force,” Bayramov added.
“When the 3+3 format was created, it was announced that this initiative had been proposed by the president of Azerbaijan, and three meetings were held within this format. At the meeting held in October 2024, it was proposed that the next meeting be held under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship, and it was noted that, if Armenia later agreed, it would also take place there. Unfortunately, such agreement was not reached, and the Armenian side did not give its consent. Now the situation is different, the organizing of these meetings is being discussed through other channels,” the Azerbaijani FM noted.
