Azerbaijan has set a condition for the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, Azerbaijani foreign minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference on the results of the passing year, APA reports.

It turns out that Azerbaijan has additional conditions for signing a peace agreement with Armenia, and they are related to the “Trump Route.”

The Azerbaijani FM noted that “amendments to Armenia’s constitution and full implementation of TRIPP obligations are necessary for the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

“Recently, mutual visits of representatives of civil society of the two countries have taken place. Also, a meeting of the border delimitation commission was held in [Azerbaijan’s] Gabala [city],” Bayramov said.

The Azerbaijani foreign minister complained that Armenia “has not taken any steps in this direction since 2020,” while “Azerbaijan immediately began construction of a highway and a railway. By 2026, the railway, which passes through Azerbaijan, will reach the border with Armenia.”

Bayramov noted that the TRIPP route project is very important for the United States.

“In order for this project to be implemented, work must also begin on the Armenian side. According to our information, US representatives working on this project are currently negotiating with Armenia. The process is being carried out bilaterally. We [i.e. Azerbaijan] hope that the work will be accelerated. In addition, both the entry and exit points of the TRIPP route are located in Azerbaijan. The project cannot be implemented without Azerbaijan’s cooperation. Therefore, we have outlined our conditions and expectations in advance, and expect that they will be taken into account,” said the Azerbaijani FM.

The Armenian public, however, definitely does not know what demands and conditions Azerbaijan is putting forward regarding the TRIPP project.
