At a press conference on the results of the passing year, Azerbaijani foreign minister Jeyhun Bayramov reported on the information received from Armenia regarding the future Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project.

“It is possible that Armenia, when assuming its obligations within the framework of TRIPP, also took into account the issue of the railway,” Bayramov said.

The Azerbaijani FM noted that Russia has signed a railway agreement with Armenia, and it will be in force until 2038.

“However, for us [i.e. Azerbaijan], Armenia’s position is that the section of the railway passing through the TRIPP project does not belong to Russia. Since this railway did not exist at the time of signing the agreement, it is impossible to include in the agreement what did not exist,” Bayramov added.
