Commemoration ceremony held in Tehran to honor the memory of General Qassem Soleimani

A commemoration ceremony marking the sixth anniversary of the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was held on January 1 in Tehran, attended by President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as political, cultural, military, social figures and Soleimani’s family members.

The ceremony was also attended by a great number of citizens, holding the portraits of Soleimani and waving the flag of Iran.

General Soleimani, the former Commander of the Quds Force, an elite unite of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was assassinated by the US military on January 3, 2020, near Baghdad International Airport.

During a week a number of commemoration events and ceremonies are scheduled across the country, including Kerman, the birthplace of Soleimani.
