Section 907 was an obstacle to the establishment of large-scale relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, local media report.
"Of course, there are two main reasons for this: the first is the official end of the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the second is that the Trump administration is in power in America. This administration is very pragmatic, very professional, and its members, led by Trump, are well aware of America's national interests," the Azerbaijani president added, and complained about the policy of the previous US administration.
Section 907 of the 1992 Freedom Support Act bans direct US aid to Azerbaijan's government due to its blockade and use of force against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.
