Georgia will charge Azerbaijan for the second transit of oil products to Armenia. This was stated today in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am by the director of Mega Trade company, Karen Hayriyan, who added that this time they are importing not only “premium,” but also “regular” gasoline.

To the question of to what extent this will impact the price of gasoline in Armenia, Hayriyan replied: “When the product arrives, we will do the cost-price calculations, we will find out how much we will sell the gasoline for. There are other factors as well affecting the price of gasoline. On a daily basis, changes in international market prices are also important, changes in foreign exchange rates are also important. The price of gasoline is not only affected by the transit fee. I do not think that charging a transit fee can significantly affect the price. There will be a certain impact, but there will be no tangible difference.”

The director of Mega Trade company noted that this time, like last time, they bought Azerbaijani gasoline from a trading company.

And when asked whether they signed a continued cooperation agreement with this trading company, Hayriyan replied: “In the oil products’ market, contracts are usually signed again for each batch. We consider that company as another supplier. If the commercial offer is not suitable, we will not buy. If we see that the product is better in terms of comparability and can be sold at a more affordable price in Armenia, of course we buy. They offered a competitive price, and that’s why we agreed.”

Karen Hayriyan added that the two Armenian companies will import a total of several thousand tons of Azerbaijani gasoline together.

Mega Trade is one of the two companies importing Azerbaijani gasoline to Armenia, and it belongs to the family of Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the ruling majority faction in parliament. The other company importing Azerbaijani gasoline is Shisha World, and it belongs to the nephew of Armenian businessman Samvel Aleksanyan's wife.
