YEREVAN. – Food safety sphere will undergo radical changes, Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan told the journalists on Wednesday.

The Minister and International Financial Corporation (IFC) Regional Head for the Caucasus Thomas Lubeck signed an agreement in Yerevan to improve investment environment. Under the agreement, Armenia will get a $1.9 million technical support.

Improvements will include four main directions: tax administration, promotion of export and import transactions, inspection reforms, as well as the issues on food safety.

The Minister said that food safety department at the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture and market surveillance department at the Ministry of Economy underwent fundamental changes, including staff, structure, working methods and technical equipment.
