The Iranian foreign ministry summoned the United Kingdom (UK) ambassador to Tehran over the incident that took place in London the day before, when an unidentified protester pulled down the flag of the Islamic Republic from its embassy building during a protest outside this diplomatic mission in London, Tasnim News Agency reports.

During the talk, "a strong protest was made to the British diplomatic representative regarding the desecration of the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Earlier, an unidentified person had climbed onto the balcony of the Iranian embassy building in London and pulled down the Iranian national flag hanging there. Scotland Yard has arrested two protesters. One of them has been charged with aggravated trespassing into foreign territory and assaulting an emergency services officer, and the other—with aggravated trespassing into foreign territory.
