The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a bill to extend the period of temporary stay of international drivers arriving from visa-free countries—including Armenia—to 180 days per year, subject to timely submission of an application on the respective portal.

The corresponding document was posted on the regulatory portal of Russian legal acts.

Now, a total limit of 90 days applies to them, Vedomosti daily reports.

This draft resolution of the Russian government is aimed at solving the problem of the expiration of the permitted period of stay in Russia for drivers whose routes pass through Belarus and require a long time to pass border and customs control.

Unlike labor migrants, work permit documents are not issued for them in Russia, and this does not allow extending their period of stay in the country.

To obtain an extended period, these drivers must submit an application for entry through the Gosuslugi portal, attaching a copy of their passports and documents confirming international transportation.

Identification will be carried out in the databases of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, comparing the fact of submitting the aforesaid application and the purpose of the trip: "driver."

If the application is not submitted, the period of their stay in Russia will be calculated in the general manner: up to 90 days․
