Armenia's possible membership in the European Union (EU) is impossible if it maintains its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reports.

"Moving towards EU membership, of course, cannot be compatible with maintaining membership in the EAEU. If Armenia makes respective decisions, as [Armenian Prime Minister] Mr. [Nikol] Pashinyan has said, and makes them in a manner consistent with the will of the Armenian people, then this is the right of Armenia and the Armenian people," Lavrov said.

"The choice, of course, must be made by the Armenian people and the leadership of Armenia. However, combining participation both here and there is absolutely excluded," the Russian foreign minister added.
