The European Parliament will suspend ratification of a trade deal with the United States after President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on eight European countries that support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Greenland, Euronews reports.

As a result, the trade deal will not enter into force, at least for now, major European political groups said.

The agreement was designed to eliminate tariffs on US industrial products.

A vote on it was scheduled to take place in the coming days.

Instead, Washington has agreed to impose a 15% tariff on US European exports, which was previously lower.
