Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that he has ordered the country's foreign ministry to hold talks with the US on equal terms.

"I have instructed my Minister of Foreign Affairs [(Abbas Araghchi)], provided that a suitable environment exists – one free from threats and unreasonable expectations – to pursue fair and equitable negotiations, guided by the principles of dignity, prudence, and expediency," Pezeshkian wrote on X on Tuesday.

He added that the decision came after "requests from friendly governments in the region to respond to the proposal by the President of the United States for negotiations."

These talks will be conducted taking into account Iran’s national interests, the president stressed.
