The impact of gasoline imported from Azerbaijan on prices in Armenia will be visible in the inflation rate in January. The governor of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), Martin Galstyan, told this to a press conference Tuesday, in response to the question about the impact of the import process from Azerbaijan on inflation in Armenia.

 “We do not have such an analysis yet, because the number and amount of these goods are quite small and limited. However, we will see certain impacts as a result of gasoline imports, but I think that these impacts will not be significant. The impact will depend on the share of imported goods in the basket,” added Galstyan.

According to him, if Armenia were to have open borders, free movement of goods and services in terms of imports and exports, this will have a positive impact on the country.

And responding to a question about the possible impact of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, the CBA governor said: “We should talk about this when we at least have the project on paper and can analyze and figure out what measures await us, who the investors are, what size investment it is about, over what period, and in what directions. Will it be direct investments, or the provision of loans which will then be converted by our companies into certain work. I would refrain from commenting now, because I lack information.”
