The construction of small reactors for a nuclear power plant in Armenia, which will likely be funded with a loan, will be paid by the country's future generations, said the secretary of the Russian Security Council.

"There are reasonable doubts, so to speak, that the implementation of the project will mean investments in Armenia’s economy. Rather, it will be a purchase and sale transaction that will amount to more than a third of the country's annual GDP. And, most likely, a loan that will be paid not only by the current but also the future generations of the [Armenia] republic," Sergey Shoigu said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

After a visit to Armenia on Monday and Tuesday, US Vice President JD Vance announced that his country will supply Armenia with small modular reactors within the framework of the nuclear energy agreement.
