The US has assisted Mexican special services in carrying out an operation that killed drug lord Nemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantes, “El Mencho,” the head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, known by its Spanish initials, CJNG, The Washington Post reported.
According to a source close to US officials, the operation was carried out by Mexican troops, but included the participation of a joint US-Mexican task force.
The aforesaid organization, formed by the Pentagon in January 2025 to combat drug cartels, is located in the state of Arizona. It includes members of intelligence and law enforcement agencies, as well as US military personnel.
This group joins forces with the Mexican military on a regular basis. In particular, it collects information about drug cartels operating in the US and Mexico.
