Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Tuesday met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mirzoyan and Turk exchanged views on priorities in human rights, current challenges facing the international human rights system, and key areas of cooperation, the foreign ministry of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Also, FM Mirzoyan presented Armenia's approaches to further institutionalizing the peace established with Azerbaijan. The interlocutors touched upon the ongoing consolidation of peace, steps aimed at fostering a climate of trust, as well as addressing the problems of the conflict-affected population and humanitarian issues.

The meeting emphasized the importance of active cooperation in the continued strengthening of trust in democratic resilience and human rights institutions.

The importance of human rights issues within the framework of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia this year, was also touched upon.
