The Armenian Ministry of Justice is, in fact, does jot know the whereabouts of the Syrian mercenaries who were transferred to Damascus.

On January 14, the Armenian authorities extradited to Syria, through Turkey, two Syrian citizens sentenced to life imprisonment in Armenia, Yousef Alaabet al-Hajji and Muhrab Muhammad al-Shkheri, explaining this by the fact that they will serve their subsequent sentence in their homeland.

Sputnik Armenia sent a request to the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, asking:

1) Are they continuing to serve their sentence?

2) If so, where/in which penitentiary?

The Ministry of Justice of Armenia responded that “the transfer of the mentioned persons was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Armenia in order to serve the remaining part of the sentence in the relevant penitentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic.”

The Ministry of Justice of Armenia added that “the organizing and process of the execution of the sentence after the transfer is under the jurisdiction of the competent authorities of the receiving state.”
