On Saturday, President Donald Trump stated that the administration considers reports of the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of strikes on the country to be "credible."

In a phone call with NBC News, the US president said: "I've spoken with many people, and we are confident that this is true information. Most of the people who were making all the decisions are no longer alive," he said, adding that "a significant portion of the leadership" of Iran had been killed, but refused to go into detail.
