Loud explosions were heard near Erbil airport, where US-led coalition forces are stationed in Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region.

According to AFP, thick black smoke is rising from the airport area.

Yesterday, US-led coalition forces shot down several missiles and explosive-laden drones over Erbil.

Israel struck Iran on the morning of February 28. US President Donald Trump also announced the launch of a US military operation against Iran. Strikes hit military facilities in western Iran, the residence of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab.

In response, Iran launched missile strikes against Israel and US military bases in the region.
