Armenia's foreign policy is in the phase of diversification, Armenia has adopted a strategy of foreign policy diversification, which is the country's sovereign decision, and Tehran respects that decision, Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami told a press conference Monday.

Also, the ambassador emphasized that the existing deep Armenian-Iranian cooperation and centuries-old relations obligate, regardless of the circumstances of what kind of foreign policy Armenia pursues, the existing interaction with Iran in various domains to continue.

"We [i.e. Iran] are confident that the presence of a strong Armenia in this region—both militarily, economically, and in terms of identity—also helps ensure Iran's national dreams, aspirations, and goals. Regarding the economic relations between the two countries, I can say that at the moment everything is progressing smoothly, we have not had any challenges yet. Just today in Kapan [city of Armenia], the chief consul of Iran, who was at the border [with Iran], assured us that the movement of trucks, as well as goods, is taking place as normal. Iranian companies are also engaged in a number of important infrastructure projects in Armenia, and we hope that the cooperative frameworks that we have with Armenia will not suffer any damage as a result of this war,” the Iranian ambassador to Armenia emphasized.
