Among all this, the attack on the Minab Girls' School, which resulted in the death of 153 female students, stands out, and this is an indelible and very shameful, unjustifiable mark on history. Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami told this to a press conference Monday—and regarding the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran.
“These children, like innocent angels, were subjected to such an unjustified attack, and our entire nation is currently feeling the pain of this bitter event. As of now, more than 170 people, including both students and teachers, have been killed. More than 555 people have died as a result of this attack since the first day of this aggression until now,” Shirgholami added.
“We [i.e. Iran] had initially stated that any military base used against us during this attack, whether it was reconnaissance or radar, would be the target of our counterattack. From the very first days of this aggression, Iran has already launched counterattacks. These actions were, of course, directed at the American military bases that assisted this military aggression from a rear and technical point of view.
We do not consider these actions against our neighbors, these steps were aimed at the American bases located in our neighboring countries and the capabilities that were used by the Americans against Iran. Within the framework of this aggression, Iran has the legitimate right to take appropriate retaliatory steps.
We do not really know how long this aggression will last, but Iran and the Iranian people are ready to exercise their legitimate right to self-defense, which was granted to them within the framework of the 51st UN Convention. The imaginary idea that was created on social media that if America and Israel attack Iran, the Iranian people will rebel against their authorities and government and overthrow the authorities, really turned out to be just a delusion and a myth. Today, [US President] Trump woke up from his sleep and realized that they were actually nothing more than a myth.
Iran is a state with a 7,000-year-old civilization and has been repeatedly attacked by foreigners throughout its history, but it has always proven that in the event of any such attack, it is ready to defend its homeland to the end at the cost of its blood and life. Also in the case of the latest aggression, we see that this idea is fully working,” noted the Iranian ambassador to Armenia.
