International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director general Rafael Grossi has expressed confidence that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons. Iran does not have nuclear weapons, Grossi said on the BBC.

According to him, the recent explosions near Isfahan, which occurred during the ongoing military operation in Iran by Israel and the United States, did not lead to damage to an Iranian nuclear facility. At the same time, however, the IAEA recorded minor damage at the Natanz nuclear facility.

Commenting on the current situation, Grossi suggested that the main goal of the current operation against Iran is not to strike nuclear facilities, unlike the operation carried out in June 2025, when the US had struck three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.

In addition, Grossi gave an interview to Bloomberg, where he expressed his opinion that sooner or later the conflict will be resolved through negotiations. At some point this will end, and the parties will have to return to the negotiating table, he noted. Also, the IAEA chief called on all parties to the conflict to show maximum restraint.
