US President Donald Trump told Politico on Tuesday that Iran's military potential is steadily declining, adding that he is open to working with some Iranian officials who have survived the first few days of Operation "Epic Fury."

Trump noted that Iran can "continue to place missiles for some time." "They are running out, and they have no places left to shoot from, because they are being destroyed," he said.

According to Trump, Iran is "running out of launchers." As for Washington's relations with the country's authorities, Trump said he is open to contacts with a "new Iranian government." He said it is "not too late."

"No, not too late. Remember, 49 [senior Iranian leaders] have been killed, so that's a pretty big deal, right? New ones are emerging. Many people want the job. Some of them would be very good," he said.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump is ready to support groups in Iran willing to take up arms to overthrow the country's authorities.
