Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Ameli, Friday Imam of Ardabil, representative of Iran's assassinated Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Seyyed Khamenei and member of the Assembly of Experts, is considered one of the candidates for the post of new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and the probability of his election is considered high, writes the Telegram account "Diary of an Iranian Journalist".

"I remembered that Ayatollah Ameli had stressed the need to develop nuclear weapons," writes the aforesaid account. Seyed Hassan Ameli is known for his tough stance on Azerbaijan. Ameli had stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran should show force to neighboring countries—Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Also, he had harshly criticized Azerbaijan for its ties with Israel.
