The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considering taking military action to stop Iranian missile and drone strikes on the country, two sources with knowledge of the matter tell Axios, the latter reports.

An Emirati strike on Iran would be unprecedented. The fact that it's being considered reflects the enormous anger among Gulf countries over Iranian attacks that have targeted civilian infrastructure and oil and natural gas facilities. The UAE has been the country most attacked by Iran since the start of the war, even more than Israel.

The United Arab Emirates is considering taking active defensive measures against Iran. Although the country did not participate in the war, it has still withstood 800 missiles, said a source familiar with political discussions in the UAE. The UAE believes that no country in the world will miss the opportunity to assess its defense posture in such circumstances, the source added.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that Iran had fired 186 ballistic missiles at the UAE, 172 of which were intercepted, 13 of which fell into the sea, and one in the UAE. Another 812 drones were detected, 755 of which were intercepted and 57 were shot down in UAE territory. Three foreigners were killed and about 70 were injured.

The UAE reserves the right to respond to this escalation and take all necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens and residents, the UAE Ministry of Defense said. The US and Israel have been carrying out attacks on Iran since February 28, which has led to destruction and casualties. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Seyyed Khamenei was also killed in the attacks.

In response, Iran has launched missile strikes on Israel and US military bases in the region. On Monday, the Hezbollah movement also entered the war against Israel, and the latter announced the launch of an offensive operation against the movement and entered southern Lebanon.
