Spanish authorities, following US President Donald Trump's statements about his intention to sever trade relations with Madrid, have agreed to provide support to US troops. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced this at a regular press briefing.

"Regarding Spain, I believe they heard the president's statement loud and clear yesterday, and as I understand it, a few hours ago they agreed to cooperate with the US military," she said.

As the US president previously announced, the United States intends to sever all trade relations with Spain. He also referenced Madrid's refusal to raise military spending to 5% of GDP, and stated that US forces could use bases in Spain for the operation against Iran regardless of Madrid's objections. His statements followed Spain's expressed disagreement with the US-Israeli military operation in Iran.
