Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory over the past few days have killed 72 people, Lebanese authorities said. More than 80,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.
Israeli operations in Lebanon began on Monday following Hezbollah's attack on Israel. Hezbollah claims the target of its attack was an Israeli air defense facility south of Haifa, and that the strikes were retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and a response to "Israel's repeated acts of aggression."
This is the largest Israeli attack on the suburbs of the Lebanese capital since 2024.
