“I express my gratitude to the proud and noble people of Kurdistan, who supported Iran during these historic days,” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on X.

“I share the grief of the families of the martyrs and those injured as a result of these incidents. The governor and the armed forces, as guardians of security, must firmly confront any separatist activity,” Pezeshkian noted.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Reuters that he “supports the offensive of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups against Iran.”

At the same time, Trump noted that the goal of the Kurds would be “to win.”

“I think it’s wonderful that they want to do that, I’d be all for it,” the US president added.

According to the agency, citing sources, “Iranian Kurdish militias have consulted with the United States in recent days about whether, and how, to attack Iran's security forces in the western part of the country.”
